A CONCERT IN AID OF PUTTINU CARES
Following the success of "Voca: In Concert" in 2016, Voca is pleased to announce its upcoming concert in aid of Puttinu Cares. "Voca: The Journey" will take place on two consecutive nights, the 24th and 25th of May, 2019 at the Sir Temi Zammit Hall, at the University of Malta.
Why "Voca: The Journey"?
Voca has embarked onto a year-long journey with Puttinu Cares.We have committed to activities throughout the year with the children at the Rainbow Ward, leading up to the concert. In this journey together, Voca aims to get to know the children better and be truly involved in creating fun moments with them and their families.
Activities kicked off on 20th May 2018 with Voca animating the mass of the Puttinu Football Marathon. Together with other family members and staff the choir members decorated the Rainbow ward with the Polar Express Theme for the Christmas festivities bring a festive atmosphere in the ward. Other foreseen events include a chocolate praline workshop by renown culinary artist and master chocolatier Christopher Zammit from UK.
Why Puttinu Cares?
The Puttinu Cares Cancer Support Group was set-up in 2002 and began from the idea and a desire to offer a holistic approach of care for families with children suffering from cancer.
Puttinu Cares employs a principle of solidarity. The charity relies on sponsors and generous donations from the public as well as fund raising activities.
Today the children's oncology ward is located in the Rainbow ward at Mater Dei Hospital. The professional staff of the ward work tirelessly together with the dedicated team members and volunteers of Puttinu Cares who are always willing to provide whatever is required to the cancer sick children and their respective families going through this very difficult period in their lives.
The purpose of this concert is to assist Puttinu Cares foundation in their most recent project, that is to acquire a hotel in London to accommodate families seeking treatment in UK.
The concert will attract local families, students as well as couples and friends, for a light-hearted night filled with song, fun and laughter. More than 1400 people are expected to attend this event.
The Programme
Voca: The Journey will present and extravaganza of music, with a repertoire of over 20 musical numbers performed by Voca Choir, its soloists and live band. Performing some iconic and renowned songs including tunes by Abba, Queen, Cranberries, Musical Covers for The Greatest Showman and Sister Act, as well as songs by local artists such as Travellers and Airport Impressions, amongst others, the concert will bring together the old and the new in a harmonious musical medley.
Our Special Guest Performers
The event will also include guest performances by renowned local artists including Errol from Airport Impressions and dancer/choreographer Warren Bonello and his dance students.
